Swing in the summer with Dal Richards Orchestra
The Evergreen Cultural Centre is very proud to present the legendary band leader, Dal Richards, and his orchestra for a special engagement to benefit the Evergreen Cultural Centre Arts Education Endowment Fund . The event includes a pre-concert summer tea party at 2pm. Tickets are $40 and available by calling the Box Office at 604.927.6555 or online at www.evergreenculturalcentre.ca
In Western Canada, the great sound of the Big Band era is synonymous with
one man - musician and bandleader Dal Richards.
For more than seven decades, the Dal Richards' Orchestra has delighted Canadians
with memorable dance music.
In January 2008, Dal celebrated his 90th birthday a huge milestone in Vancouvers
musical history.
Dal Richards performed on stage at Evergreen in 2001 and he returns this month with his orchestra and featured vocalist Jennifer Hayes for this fundraising event. Sperril Chambers who sits on Evergreens fundraising committee is thrilled. My family and I are waiting with anticipation to hearing Dal Richards and his orchestra play right here in our own Evergreen Cultural Centre. It will be a real treat to sit back and hear those tunes for which he is so famous.
Dal Richards remarkable energy and stage presence generates enthusiastic responses and ovations from fans and critics everywhere! Adds Mr. Chambers, What a wonderful experience it will be.
Dal's 14-piece big band is featured daily during the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver, and his Dal Richards' Combo plays regularly at Chantel's Lounge (now the Lions Den) at the Boulevard Casino in Coquitlam. He has been featured in not one but two national television documentaries. His biography, Big Band Boom won a silver medal for documentaries at the 1998 U.S. International Film and Video Festival in Chicago; while a musical special featuring the Dal Richards Orchestra, What Legends Are Made Of has been broadcast nationally several times on CTV and Bravo.
Even after more than half a century entertaining Canadians, Dal still runs a full-time business and hosts a weekly radio show on 600 AM Radio. Dal is an active volunteer with the Variety Club, the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame and Vancouver AM Tourist Services Association.
Dont miss this concert presentation and enjoy some memorable music
from days gone by.
All Tickets $40 and includes a summer tea party.
